Welcome to our latest addition Gloria the Garden Dragon
Gloria’s celebration unveiling, in the Church of St George could not have been more suitable for a dragon so beautiful
This community based dragon Gloria the Garden Dragon was created by Jo Cane, a local artist and revealed in the wonderful setting of St George’s Church Colegate this week.
Sponsored by local Norwich-Over-the-Water Group is a number of local organisations based around the crossroads of St George’s Street and Colegate who, along with parishioners of St George’s Church Colegate, want to be involved in the GoGoDragon! trail in 2015.
This brightly painted dragon has been designed and created using many of the local spotted birds and insects from the west garden of the church and it is hoped that the location will provide a stopping point for families to enjoy the surrounding area, whilst on the dragon trail.
Churchwarden Matt Williams said: “If the reaction of the sponsors to the revealing of Gloria is anything to go by, our stunning dragon is going to be fantastically popular. What better place to enjoy a garden dragon than on the lawn next to the church, with our tower and clock as backdrop. St George Colegate is so very pleased make this space available over the summer and to share in a wonderful community event for everyone.”
This initiave has been steered by Anne Duarte and Jenny Hartt with the purpose of involving the local community and to support Break Charity. This dragon has an active twitter following @OerTheWater.
The GoGoDragons! trail starts on 21st June and ends on 5th September 2015.
