Opticians-sponsored GoGoDragon! Sprite Snap is quite a spectacle
The colourful mythological creature has a book theme and has been created by artist Bev Coraldean and sponsored by Norwich-based Coleman Opticians.
The idea for Sprite Snap – who was unveiled at an event on Sunday – came from seeing children’s faces light up while reading books at the opticians after they had been prescribed glasses.
Sprite Snap is covered in images from the Sprite Sisters books by local author Sheridan Winn, and the author has also donated some of her books to Coleman Opticians to give to patients during the GoGoDragons! trail.
Sprite Snap will also be given a pair of reading glasses when Coleman Opticians launches a Summer Reading Festival at the practice on Sunday, June 28.
Kate Fenn, Coleman Opticians director, said: “We are hoping to raise awareness of the importance of sight tests for children. “All young people under 19 still in full time education are entitled to a free sight test on the NHS and we want to tell people how important it is to use this service. Even if your child doesn’t need glasses then there are lots of things we can detect during an eye examination.”
