Queen of Norwich - Little Bethel Street
Artists: ERM CIC with SADACC
LOCATION: Queen of Norwich No 14 Little Bethel Street
This dragon has been created in association with the South Asia Decorative Arts and Crafts Collection (SADACC) and the UEA Pakistani Society. Its design is based on brightly coloured, symbolic Pakistani truck art. The base of the Dragon looks like the metal body of the truck and it is embellished with intricate decoration. These trucks are designed to remind the driver of their home towns, villages, families and the natural environment – somewhere they may not see for years on end as they travel vast distances earning a living in transport. The Urdu text used translates as ‘Queen of Norwich’ and ‘Look, but with Love’.
