Glamourous GoGoDragon! is set to host ball at Norwich hotel
Dragtabulous Delores will be one of the 84 dragons to feature in the GoGoDragons! trail through Norwich which is being organised by children’s charity Break and Wild in Art.
The beautiful and flamboyant dragon has been designed by artist Sally Adams and sponsored by Holiday Inn Norwich North, and she was unveiled at the hotel’s Lancaster Suite.
Sally, who for the occasion wore a fascinator to match Dragtabulous Delores’ costume, said she was inspired to design the dragon after reading a newspaper article about the 2014 Norwich Pride parade.
She said: “The simple idea of a dragon in drag was too hard to resist, so I designed a “dragtastic” dragon to represent the gay community all over the world. She has great pride, glamour and lots and lots of glitter!”
Bill Heath, general manager at Holiday Inn Norwich North, said: “We are so excited to be a part of the trail this year and to support the work of the great Norfolk charity, Break. Delores will be situated in the lounge of the hotel.”
He added: “Sally Adams, the artist behind Delores, is hugely talented and it’s been a pleasure to work with her and see the dragon progress into what I believe is one of the most creative dragons in this year’s trail.”
Dragtabulous Delores will preside over a Dragon Ball at Holiday Inn Norwich North on Saturday, June 27. The black tie event will be celebrating the GoGoDragons! and raising funds for Break.
Michael Rooney, fundraising manager for Break, said: “Dragtabulous Delores is a glamorous addition to the GoGoDragons! blaze of dragons and she will certainly delight visitors to the trail. We are very grateful to the Holiday Inn, Norwich North for sponsoring her and for making Break their charity of the year. We really hope people will support their Dragon Ball in support of our work changing young lives across East Anglia.”
Tickets for the ball on Saturday, June 27 cost £20 and include a three course meal and entertainment from the Joe Ringer Band. To book, call the hotel on 01603 201109 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
