Dragon name: Firside Treasures……..
Dragon design: Firside Junior School planned the GoGoDragons! project across the whole curriculum. The theme for their dragon is treasure ……
Each year group tackled the idea of ‘treasure’ slightly differently.
Year 3 linked it to their stoneage project and thought about the treasures of the past that teach us.
Year 4 covered a dragon project in their English work this half term. They thought about the word ‘treasure’ and how it can be illustrated and described.
Year 5 linked it to the Ancient Greece topic and wrote a Greek myth involving a dragon that is protecting treasure. They thought both literally and abstractly about this treasure and what it could be.
Year 6 thought in the abstract about the word treasure. They considered the literal meaning, that it is something precious and then thought about precious things in their lives.
The school logo is a fir tree and this was incorporated into a mixture of artwork and writing.
To decorate the dragon, each year group was allocated a colour so that the overall effect of the dragon is with scales in 4 different colours.
“Firside Treasures……” can be admired in intu Chapelfield until 5th September. He will then return to Firside School to no doubt take pride of place.
Break Charity would like to say a huge thank you to Firside Junior School for helping to change young lives. Thank you to the children, parents and staff who have been collecting spare change in our new GoGoDragon! collecting boxes & raised a fantastic £202.86.
